La Roche-Posay Toleriane Softening Foaming Gel Wash Review

My fellow sensitive skin sufferers will know how hard it is to find a face wash that won’t strip your skin and cause redness. And, honestly, I thought I would never find a face wash like that. But I’m pleased to report that I did. In this post, I’m bringing you a La Roche-Posay Toleriane Softening Foaming Gel Wash Review – a product that reduces my redness instead of exaggerating it.

About La Roche-Posay

I already wrote about the brand itself, but why not remind ourselves? La Roche-Posay is a French pharmacy brand changing the skincare game for all skin types, particularly sensitive ones. Also, they committed to providing education and raising awareness of the importance of sun protection. And they have great products. What else could a girl need?

Texture

The texture of this product is a thick creamy gel that becomes thick foam once massaged into the skin. You need to add some water to it as soon as you apply it to the skin (or before) because it would drag the skin too much.

Use

La Roche-Posay says: ‘Lather cleanser in the hand with warm water. Massage gently onto face, avoiding eye area. Rinse thoroughly. Pat dry.’

As I said above, you could do it in two ways. Apply it to the face first, and then add water, or you can mix it with water in your hands. I usually do the first option.

It does foam quite a bit, so you don’t need a lot of product. A pea-sized amount will do.

And I find it takes a bit of time to thoroughly rinse it off, but that’s probably because I use more than a pea-sized amount. That’s just the way I’m used to using a product.

Who is La Roche-Posay Toleriane Softening Foaming Gel Wash for

I think it would be great for any skin type, but particularly for sensitive skin suffering from redness. The website says it is suitable for normal to combination skin and sensitive skin. Also, it’s hypoallergenic, so if you suffer from allergies, you can still be sure it will not harm your skin. The only skin type I wouldn’t recommend it for is very dry skin, as it isn’t particularly nourishing.

My experience with La Roche-Posay Toleriane Softening Foaming Gel Wash

As I said above, La Roche-Posay Toleriane Softening Foaming Gel Wash is the only face wash I have found so far that reduces my redness instead of increasing it. And that puts it on my number one face wash of all time. Except for being so gentle and calming, it is also strong enough to be used as my second cleanse. If you’re unsure what I’m talking about, click here: Double cleansing – why is it so important? In short, it is strong enough to remove all the melted makeup, SPF and oil from my face without any harsh rubbing.

As I am someone who likes some foam in their face wash, I am happy that this product also provides a bit of that. The smell is pleasant and neutral, nothing too strong, and the texture is a nice medium, not too liquidy and not too thick.

Conclusion

To anyone that has struggled to find a suitable face wash, try this one. You won’t regret it. And if you are just coming into the world of skincare, this would be a perfect choice for a first face wash.

I enjoy this product as I am a bit self-conscious of my facial redness, but I don’t want to wear makeup every day. And with this, I know my redness will go down after I wash my face in the morning. It provides a great fresh start for the rest of my calming skincare routine, and my other products can work on strengthening my skin’s barrier instead of repairing it from the harsh cleanser.

Packaging: 4/5

The packaging is a classic squeeze bottle with a classic La Roche-Posay design. I would prefer it if it was a pump bottle as it is more hygienic, but this doesn’t bother me too much.

Ingredients: 5/5

As with any other La Roche-Posay product, the ingredients in this product are great! They know what they’re doing, and they are doing it great. Not much else to say here.

Value: 5/5

With a price of €15.45 for 150ml, I would consider this product in a low-price range. And it is an amazing product for that price. Also, it lasts a long time. I’ve had it for more than three months now, and I’m just about going to run out of it.

Overall: 4.6/5

It hurts me that this overall rating goes down to 4.6/5, but the only reason is that the bottle is not a pump bottle which would be a bit more hygienic. If I wasn’t considering all aspects of the product, my rating wouldn’t be 5/5. It would be 10/5. That’s how good this is. But I want my reviews to be honest, and I consider every part of a product because, at the end of the day, we pay for the packaging and design, marketing, the name and the actual product itself.

So there you guys have it. The best face wash I have used so far since I stopped buying whatever and actually started paying attention to what I’m using.
