Bielenda Super Power Mezo Tonic

Have you ever heard of the Japanese seven-skin method? Essentially, it’s a method where you apply a hydrating product seven times in a row for deep hydration. You can use toners or essences for this method. And today, I’m bringing you a Bielenda Super Power Mezo Tonic Review, a product I have been using for my seven-skin method.

About Bielenda Super Power Mezo Tonic Review

Here is what Bielenda says:

Actively rejuvenating toner cleanses and refreshes the skin. It hydrates the skin already in the cleansing phase, professionally preparing it for application of cream or serum.

Characteristics:

  • washes the whole face gently and thoroughly
  • hydrates deeply

Ingredients:

Aqua (Water), Glycerin, Panthenol, Arginine PCA, Hyaluronic Acid, Hydrolyzed Glycosaminoglycans, Lactic Acid, Polysorbate 20, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, DMDM Hydantoin, Parfum (Fragrance), Linalool

As we can see, this is a simple enough formulation, mainly focused on hydration and anti-ageing.

Several ingredients are hydrating for the skin, including glycerin, panthenol, hyaluronic acid and lactic acid.

Glycerin is a humectant meaning it draws moisture onto itself and into the skin. It’s a skin-identical ingredient that keeps lipids (fats) in our skin nice and healthy.

Panthenol is also sometimes called pro-vitamin B5. The word pro means it’s a precursor to vitamin B5. Same as glycerin, panthenol is also a humectant, so its role is to moisturise the skin.

Hyaluronic acid is also a humectant. It can bind much more water onto itself than its molecular weight. We have hyaluronic acid naturally in our skin, and its primary role is to hydrate the skin. I have a post about Hyaluronic acid, so if you want to learn more, click here.

Lactic acid is acid from the alpha hydroxy acids group. As it’s an acid, its primary role is to exfoliate. It removes dead skin cells leaving young, fresh skin underneath. Removing that top layer helps our skin absorb other products better. Except for exfoliation, lactic acid also has hydrating properties.

The rest of the ingredients are mainly preservatives. And, unfortunately, there is some fragrance in here as well. Very unnecessary, in my opinion

Packaging, texture and use

Packaging

Bielenda Super Power Mezo Tonic comes in a sturdy, clear bottle with a flip top. I like the lid of this bottle because it’s good quality and sturdy. If you are bringing the product with you somewhere, there are no chances it would open and spill everywhere. Otherwise, the design is lovely, with the three main ingredients highlighted so you can get an idea of what to expect from the product.

Texture

There isn’t much to be said about the texture. It’s a very liquid product as it is a toner. If you are not putting it on a cotton pad (like me), you need to work fast, so you don’t lose the toner down the drain.

Use

Bielenda recommends:

APPLICATION: moisten a cotton swab with toner and clean the skin. Use daily, in the morning and evening or during the day as a refreshing treatment.

I don’t use it as a regular toner but as a hydrator in my seven-step skin method. It’s a routine I do once a week to rehydrate my skin, and it includes applying a hydrating product seven times in a row or until your skin can’t soak it in anymore. It provides massive hydration to the skin and gives it a chance to recover from all the active products you might be using.

Who is Bielenda Super Power Mezo Tonic for?

Bielenda recommends this product for mature skin as it has those powerful hydrating ingredients alongside lactic acid. But I think anyone can use this rejuvenating tonic, as they call it. My skin is far from being mature, but it still loves it. So anyone looking for an affordable hydrating toner can use it.

But if you have extremely sensitive skin, and can’t tolerate fragrance, better skip it.

My experience

My skin is sensitive and acne-prone, and it can get quite dehydrated as I’m using retinol every night. So it needs that once-a-week pick-me-up. And this product delivers that.

I apply it to damp skin with my hands and gently pat it on. Then I wait for about 10-15 seconds and apply another layer. And I keep doing that until I either reach seven applications or until my skin can no longer absorb the product.

And in the morning, I wake up with my skin looking like it had a massive drink of water as it’s looking plump and rehydrated.

Also, even though my skin is sensitive, it can tolerate the fragrance in this product. I think it might be the only fragranced product in my current skincare routine, so my skin isn’t overburdened with it. But the fragrance is quite strong when you apply it to the skin. It almost smells kind of like an aftershave to me. So I’m not too fond of the scent, but I can live with it.

Bielenda Skin Clinic Professional Rejuvenating Toner 200ml €6.90

Conclusion

My Bielenda Super Power Mezo Tonic Review is that it’s a good, affordable product. It provides deep hydration and gently exfoliates the skin. It’s a gentle enough product that would suit almost any skin type, as long as you’re not sensitive to the fragrance.

You could use it as they recommend, as a daily toner to refresh your skin and prepare it for the rest of your routine. Or, as I use it – to deeply rehydrate once a week. Lactic acid ensures that the dead skin layer is removed, and the product can bring hydration deeper into the skin.

If you are looking for a cheap toner that works, this is the product for you.

Packaging: 5/5

I bought much more expensive toners whose bottle tops would break easily, and I couldn’t bring them anywhere as I knew they would leak. But this product has such a sturdy top that it would be almost impossible to spill or break it.

Ingredients: 3/5

Even though it has lovely hydrating ingredients, it also has a lot of preservatives and a very strong fragrance. And even though I don’t mind them, I think they could’ve done it without them.

Value: 5/5

For 200ml, you will usually pay €6.90, but currently, it’s on offer for €3.10. That is an insane price for any skincare product. And those 200ml will last you a very long time. The only downside is that it’s only available on Notino.

Overall: 4.3/5

Overall, this product is a fabulous ratio of price and quality. I don’t think you can beat it. And for the price you pay, I think we can forgive the fragrance content unless you are very allergic to it.
